Children's Picture Book Review | Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

Goodnight MoonGoodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"Goodnight Moon" is a long time beloved children's picture book through generations of readers. In the great green room, a small rabbit says goodnight to the things in his bedroom before going to sleep, one by one.

There is very minial text which repeats and rhymes. It makes redears to feel the mood of the night, instead of having focus on what the text is saying. Rhymes make this book easy to read out and enjoyable to listen to, like as lullaby.

The illustrations are smart. well-designed and intended. It alternate between color and black/white as if reality of the day is overlapped by illusion of the night. You can also see the room darker and darker as the night deepens.

I don't think this book makes your kids to sleep earlier. They would love to keep awake volunteering to spot the things on the pictures, one by one (especially small mouse on the each pages). They may want to say goodnight to all the things in his/her own bedroom after reading this book ( It's definitely time consuming).
However I'm sure this book will give you an adorable time with your child every night. Even if you are a very busy adult living without kids, I still recommend this book. It will be comforting and make your end of the day peaceful.
